Skiing Trips in France and Switzerland

The Chamonix Valley: A Ski Adventure in France

January 31 - February 6, 2011

Chamonix is quite simply a spectacular place. Located at the foot of Mont Blanc, the Chamonix valley is one of the most famous ski destinations around the world. You can stand in any place in the Chamonix valley, gaze upwards and see magical peaks, tumbling glaciers and of course Mont Blanc herself.

There is a choice of five resorts spread along the valley floor: Les Houches, Le Brevent, La Flegere, Les Grand Montets and Le Tour/Col de Balme. Also, the famous Aiguille du Midi tram and the Vallee Blanche ski descent are a must while in the Chamonix Valley.

Après ski is also a big part of the ski scene and many of the bars fill after skiing to tell of the day’s happenings. An alternative après scene is enjoying a café au lait and a pastry at one of the many patisseries along the Rue de Dr Paccard. The Chamonix valley is more than just a ski resort, however. Unlike purpose-built resorts, Chamonix is a bustling town where people live, work and play, which means there is always something to do and somewhere to go. In Chamonix there are many choices when it comes to dining out. You have a choice of cuisine-- from traditional Savoyard fondue and raclette to many varieties of French and international cuisine. Come and ski a mix of resort and guided off piste skiing during the day and sample a slice of real European skiing history.
