Mar 31 Departure day

Being a part of the Arlberg mountain range, skiing in St. Anton offers an extensive amount of groomed terrain and a resort height of 1,300m, with a top elevation of 2,800m.  Skiing in the St. Anton region offers a huge variety to terrain.  There are steep challenging runs as well as a wide choice of intermediate and advanced runs, and some of the best off-piste skiing in Austria.

Our accommodation is the Piltriquitron Lodge in down town St Anton, and they write,
"The Lodge is designed and built in a way that combines clean, modern architecture with warm, comfortable surroundings.  We merge and influence the modernity and quality of Scandinavian architecture with subtle Japanese and Argentine design and photography.

There are four bedrooms, each of which sleeps two people in very comfortable, hotel quality beds.  The beds can be combined or separated (should two friends not wish to sleep so close). Each bedroom has its own Japanese-style bathroom equipped with shower, sink, and toilet.  And, when you wish to have some privacy from the common area, each bedroom has a flat screen television equipped with cable.  We built the common area with the hope that old and new friends will share meals and recount their ski days in a relaxed environment.  We serve breakfast each morning at a shared table.  And, when your ski day is finished, we have a comfortable sofa and chair that serve as good places to watch ski movies, flip through ski magazines, read books, or take a nap."

The traditional Tyrolean village is attractive and picturesque, with a well-equipped pedestrian centre and a wide choice of shops and accommodation catering for those on a skiing holiday.

We will spend the first three days getting our St Anton ski legs, skiing perhaps the Vallugagrat to the village of St. Christoph or exploring Zurs, Lech, Stuben, St. Christoph, Sonnenkopf (Klösterle) or Zug.  A classic ski adventure in the St Anton area is to complete “the white ring”, a day of skiing a circuit around the areas of St Anton.

The following two days we will ski with a local UIAGM internationally certified guide who will take us off piste skiing wherever the weather and snow conditions permit us.  St Anton has some of the best off-piste skiing in Austria and we plan to take advantage of it.
